My name is Myrantza (Mer-ant-za), and I am an upcoming first generation Haitian American college student. I will be attending Simmons in January and will go on to pursue a bachelors in sociology and a masters in public policy. I have always sought to understand and create a safe and inclusive environment for me and my loved ones and the best way I believe I could do that is by pursuing this particular degree and giving back to my community. This pursuit carries on as I plan to go on to law school while using my knowledge in both disciplines to work in humanitarian organizations that work with minorities or biotech organizations that work with minorities. I plan to travel and complete different internships around the U.S. during my post secondary studies and buy books by historical thinkers and authors to build the at-home library I dream of. I also plan to meet with different organizations and groups of people to expand my impact on different communities; whether it is the queer community, hijabi community, the Black community, and more. Some mini projects that I am currently working on as I pursue higher education is publishing a blog, writing a book, journaling, reading different books on gender, race, spirituality and politics. I plan to work part time simultaneously and become a part of several clubs at school. I like to attend lectures, volunteer, go to church and hold deep, relating conversations with others.
